A PRIVATE CHAT WITH...

IMAN PEREZ

When was your first competition? With which horse?
I was 7 years old and was riding a Shetland pony in a small riding club in the Yvelines. I remember I won my first competition riding a pony called Mangue.

What is your best equestrian memory so far?
I think it was when I listened to my first Marseillaise at the CSI of Deauville with my horse Connery 13 in 2016.

Which show jumping event inspires you the most?
The Longines Paris Eiffel Jumping ! I will show there this year for the second time (30th June to 2nd July) and it is an incredible place to ride. Abroad I would like to show in Rome at the Longines Global Champions Tour.

Which horse in the five-star circuit thrills you?
Quabri de L’Isle, rode by Pedro Veniss. He is my favourite! If I win the lottery I will buy that horse!

You are a rider but you have also been working as a model. Can you tell us more?
I am very lucky to be able to do two things I am passionate about. My mother was a model and I have been immersed in the fashion world since I was very young. I was spotted in the street two years ago and I have become a model myself. This job helps me fund my other passion – show jumping – and allows me to continue riding at the highest level possible.

You father is an actor (Vincent Perez). Does the movie industry interest you?
I have played a second role in a movie when I was twelve. It was called “A Butterfly Kiss” (Un Baiser Papillon). It was a really nice experience but now I am quite busy with riding and modelling so I am focusing on these two activities. However, if I have a good offer for a movie I will surely consider it.

What is your favourite city?
Paris, without hesitation. I am in love with this city! I could walk through Paris for hours just to admire all the amazing monuments.

What is your favourite dish?
Steamed zucchini with oven roasted sweet potatoes.

WHICH OBJECT DO YOU ALWAYS KEEP WITH YOU?
My iPhone!

Who is your favourite athlete?
Mohammed Ali and in show jumping, Pénélope Leprévost.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE PIECE OR TYPE OF MUSIC?
Hip Hop and RnB. I love the song “Love in the brain” by Rihanna.

WHICH HOLIDAY DESTINATION DO YOU PREFER?
New York, because I have an apartment there and it’s a bit like my second home.

THE BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIMES?
Breakfast at Tiffany's with Audrey Hepburn.

WHAT KIND OF TV SHOWS DO YOU PREFER?
I watch a lot of series, but I would say Desperate Housewives.

What is an ideal Sunday for you?
A good result in a show! If I am not showing, then it would be a shopping spree with my friends.
